  • Maybe then... Because actually solving annoying problems is not fun, even less so now that the code is a black box only the LLM can understand.

tikotus · Oct 28, 2026 · comment in “The Agent SDK”

  • For QM the main issue is that we are barely able to see results of that black box and have to make guesses even about observable results, because what we see is result of particle long gone and the result has been a mess of paths that it took.

  • Show HN: OpenDocBot – bring your own model to Word, Excel and PowerPoint I got tired of the lock-in and black-box nature of AI inside MS Office.

dgf18 · Sep 16, 2026 · story in “Show HN: OpenDocBot – bring your own model to Word, Excel and PowerPoint”

  • yeah this feels frustrating with claude, a black box inside a black box. good thing they got competitors

setnone · Aug 5, 2026 · comment in “Ask HN: Dear Anthropic, can we please have thought traces back?”

  • Waiting for the VM to get set up when responding to a task made them feel like they were only for fire and forget workflows, and I missed going back and forth with the agent and using plan mode. On top of that, the whole VM was a black box and I had no way of verifying the agent's work besides checking out its branch and testing its changes myself, which got annoying super quickly.

pranav100000 · Jul 11, 2026 · story in “Show HN: Aether – Run Claude Code, Codex, or OpenCode in devboxes you can watch”

  • It's pretty much black box at this point on. AI that wrote it now goes in loops wasting tokens without being able to can't reliably fix it either, because it has no memory of the architectural decisions it made (or didn't make, for that matter) the first time round.

    rahulmax · Jun 13, 2026 · comment in “Shepherd's Dog: A Game by Fable”

  • I haven't ran the statistics, but there is as much excitement around AI especially when new opensource models release as there's cautionary tales around it. Even being pro-AI I have to admit that I scream at the black box and throw slurs at it quite often because it's genuinely a fustrating tool to use when it does not understand basic instructions, but also makes you understand that this is not magic.

himata4113 · Jun 6, 2026 · comment in “Ask HN: Why is the HN crowd so anti-AI?”

  • Murphy’s Law is undefeated. Add in a psycophantic hallucination black box to critical business data and you have a recipe for hilarity.

    throwatdem12311 · May 14, 2026 · comment in “Claude for Small Business”

  • Pro adds teams, RBAC, 30 day retention, API key management, full text search and audit logs. SQLite doesn't scale to high write throughput.

AdarshRao23 · May 13, 2026 · story in “Show HN: Torrix, self hosted, LLM Observability,(no Postgres, no Redis)”

  • I found the lack of visibility into what costs what was very annoying.

ThunderSizzle · Apr 22, 2026 · comment in “Changes to GitHub Copilot individual plans”

  • Async polling on the frontend. Inspiration came from r/isthisai where people there spend a lot of energy arguing whether images are real, and existing detectors are either gated behind enterprise sales or unreliable black-box classifiers.

shawhunterm · Apr 20, 2026 · story in “Show HN: I Spy AI – Detect AI-Generated Images, with an MCP Server”

  • I'm at a friction point considering whether to take this further and build a SaaS layer on top of the open source core for enterprise teams (centralized audit logs, team policies, etc.). Would love honest feedback, is this solving a real problem or am I over engineering it?

nadav_tal · Mar 19, 2026 · comment in “Node9 – A "sudo" wrapper for AI agents with auto Git snapshots”

  • Hi HN, I built Buildcage to solve a recurring problem at work: during Docker builds, tools like `npm install` and `pip install` can execute arbitrary code and make outbound connections to arbitrary hosts without visibility or control.

dash14 · Mar 8, 2026 · story in “Show HN: Buildcage – Egress filtering for Docker builds (SNI-based, no MitM)”

  • We rely on LLMs that crash at random and on social platforms that bury our bookmarks under layers of messy UI and slow "official archives." I built Archivlyx because I got tired of the "black box" nature of my digital footprint on X (Twitter).

ErinSunny · Mar 3, 2026 · story in “Show HN: Archilvx-Own your Twitter data because cloud tools will fail you”

  • I wanted to experiment with a health check layer that treats memory as something inspectable and maintainable rather than a black box. The goal is not just to store context, but to detect when memory becomes unreliable, noisy, or inefficient before that degradation starts affecting the agent.

sukinai · Feb 26, 2026 · comment in “Show HN: I built a self-diagnostic health check for AI agent memory”

  • I am opening the testing boundary for black box red teaming. I want the finest red teamers and prompt engineers to jump into the GitHub Discussions (linked in the repo), review the payload strings we've already defeated, and craft new prompt injections to try and force a hallucination.

MattijsMoens · Feb 26, 2026 · comment in “Show HN: A closed source engine that stops hallucinations deterministically”

  • WLM (Wujie Language Model), a protocol stack + world engine that rethinks AI from token prediction to structural intelligence. I built this to fix the problems we all deal with daily: hallucination, drift, uncontrollable behavior, black-box reasoning, unstructured knowledge, and chaotic world/agent generation.

WujieGuGavin · Feb 17, 2026 · story in “Show HN: Fixing AI's Core Flaws, A protocol cuts LLM token waste by 40–70%”

  • It's giving the operator enough visibility into what the agent is actually doing without drowning them in noise. There's a narrow band between "Read 3 files" (useless) and a full thinking trace dump (unusable), and finding it requires treating observability as a first-class design problem, not a verbosity slider.

toliveistobuild · Feb 12, 2026 · comment in “Claude Code is being dumbed down?”

  • I had just given a demo about how Claude Code helped me learn some things by showing exactly what it was doing, and now it doesn't do that any more. So frustrating.

myko · Feb 11, 2026 · comment in “Claude Code is being dumbed down?”

  • Hey HN, I built DeepInsight after getting frustrated with how AI research tools treat the research process as a black box.

NeuralStratLabs · Feb 4, 2026 · story in “Show HN: DeepInsight HITL AI research with collaboration and podcast generation”

  • Standard K8s cost tools often treat a node as a "black box," but when an A100 sits idle because of a misconfigured training job or a stuck inference server, you’re burning hundreds of dollars a day. The Live Demo: I know how annoying it is to sign up just to see a dashboard.

MGabrIbrah · Jan 25, 2026 · story in “Show HN: PodCost – Find wasted GPU and Kubernetes spend (with live demo)”

  • Would your company pay for centrally managed policies and audit logs? What’s the least annoying UX that still counts as “real security”?

peanutlife · Dec 28, 2025 · story in “How do you secure AI coding agents?”

  • For a regulated AI agent (Finance/Healthcare), this is a nightmare. It means your audit trail is technically hallucinating depending on which server processed the query.

varshith17 · Dec 23, 2025 · story in “Why are we accepting silent data corruption in Vector Search? (x86 vs. ARM)”

  • → Full audit trail, zero unrecoverable states, zero infinite loops 95%+ hallucination reduction in real daily use.

    Thugonerd · Nov 19, 2025 · comment in “The Zero-Bullshit Protocol – Hallucination-Proof AI Engineering System”

  • I'm the maker. I built this because I believe the biggest problem with most AI image tools is that they're a "black box." You get what the AI gives you, and if it's 90% right, you're stuck.
